I hope the work creates a moment of questioning and uncertainty before the viewer recognises its construction. The combination of materials (often ordinary) creates a trompe l'œil that encourages viewers to question both the image and materials. The shift in perception invites reflection on value, authenticity, nostalgia, the role of the artist, collectors and institutions. By revealing the disparity between appearance and materiality, the work encourages viewers to reconsider how significance is attributed to objects and how systems of preservation, documentation, and authorship shape our understanding of artworks.
