Jennifer Frances - Not Me, Not Her

£1,880.00

84 x 114.5 x 3 cm

Mixed media and oils

2025

Not Me, Not Her is rooted in my childhood and the emotional numbness that followed it. Growing up, I have very few memories, leaving gaps where experiences should be. This work explores what it feels like to search for yourself when so much of your past feels out of reach.

Created using oils, inks and mixed media, I used layers to reflect fragmented memories and emotions that are difficult to put into words. Rather than telling a specific story, the painting captures a feeling of disconnection, loss and the lifelong process of trying to understand who I am beyond what I can remember.

Yet, beneath the darkness, there is also a gentleness to the piece. A sense of warmth and acceptance, as though the two figures are beginning to coexist rather than remain separate. For me, the painting is not only about the pain of a fractured sense of identity, but also about the possibility of acknowledging all parts of myself with compassion.

Please note that delivery is not included in the price. Delivery costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. The delivery method and payment will be arranged with Parker Harris after purchase, and Parker Harris will contact all buyers once their purchase is complete. Buyers will not receive the work until after the exhibition at Wells Cathedral closes on Saturday 7 November 2026. Works can be collected from Wells Cathedral on Sunday 8 or Monday 9 November 2026, 9.30am–4.30pm.
