Heather Jane Wallace - A Bacchanal before the storm (after Nicholas Poussin)

£2,500.00

140 x 100 x 4 cm

Oil and mixed media on canvas

2026

My work is focussed on telling stories, drawing on my interest in art history and memories and experiences as a woman growing up in Somerset. I work across a broad range of media, creating conversation starters. Over the past year I have concentrated on exploring historical images of rape, with particular interest in the Greek myth Leda and the Swan’. Leda, the spartan queen in Greek mythology, was seduced by the god Zeus. The images I am working on at the moment explore and question many of the myths which have evolved around historical narratives.

Please note that delivery is not included in the price. Delivery costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. The delivery method and payment will be arranged with Parker Harris after purchase, and Parker Harris will contact all buyers once their purchase is complete. Buyers will not receive the work until after the exhibition at Wells Cathedral closes on Saturday 7 November 2026. Works can be collected from Wells Cathedral on Sunday 8 or Monday 9 November 2026, 9.30am–4.30pm.
