Andrei Mocanu works with objects that have already had a life inside someone else's system, or were built to have one. The vessels are urns, made to hold what remains of a person. The radiating elements are plucking fingers, made for industrial machines that strip feathers from birds.
The result is an object one cannot get close to. The works are quiet, even austere in their monochrome or restricted palette and compact scale, but the collision they enact (between tenderness and industry, the devotional and the mechanical) remains active throughout.
