I collect found materials - discarded leftovers and remnants of nature: twigs, tin cans, prescription pills, earth dug up from industrial ruins. My work repurposes these remains, alienating them from their past to form new narratives.
Materials help me make sense of time. I’m interested in how they carry meaning by referencing personal, ecological and archaeological histories. Growth, transformation and decay generate my sculptures.
I'm influenced by the wry, uncanny sculptures of Louise Bourgeois, Mona Hatoum, and David Hammons. Arte Povera also inspires me, particularly the work of Giuseppe Penone, and his assemblages of organic, artisanal and industrial materials.
