Sliced Bread
20 x 60 x 140 cm
As stated, the installation takes the form of an open book, constructed from multiple slices of bread. The words Sacred & Memory will be impressed into the bread, creating translucent impressions of the original text. As these impressions are taken directly from headstones, the text naturally appears in reverse. Although the words remain legible, their reversed orientation invites closer attention, encouraging viewers to pause, spend time with the work, and consider the passage of history embodied within the inscriptions. The act of reading becomes an act of reflection, mirroring the exhibition's exploration of time and remembrance.
Please note that delivery is not included in the price. Delivery costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. The delivery method and payment will be arranged with Parker Harris after purchase, and Parker Harris will contact all buyers once their purchase is complete. Buyers will not receive the work until after the exhibition at Wells Cathedral closes on Saturday 7 November 2026. Works can be collected from Wells Cathedral on Sunday 8 or Monday 9 November 2026, 9.30am–4.30pm.
