E. Ceri Shaw - Timeline

from £290.00

Fine Bone China

14 x 13 x 7 cm

This installation comprises twelve vessels arranged across twelve ascending steps, progressing from the most eroded to the least eroded. The work explores time through material transformation, using erosion as a visible record of duration, change, and impermanence. Inspired by St. Augustine's reflection on the difficulty of defining time, the vessels embody its effects rather than attempting to represent it directly. Their sequential arrangement suggests cycles of life, memory, and history, while the ascent creates an ambiguous movement between decay and renewal. In dialogue with Wells Cathedral, the work reflects on the centuries of weathering, preservation, and human presence embedded within.

Please note that delivery is not included in the price. Delivery costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. The delivery method and payment will be arranged with Parker Harris after purchase, and Parker Harris will contact all buyers once their purchase is complete. Buyers will not receive the work until after the exhibition at Wells Cathedral closes on Saturday 7 November 2026. Works can be collected from Wells Cathedral on Sunday 8 or Monday 9 November 2026, 9.30am–4.30pm.
